How to Fund Your Prestmit Naira Wallet

This articles explains how you can fund your Prestmit Naira wallet using Virtual Top-up Account.

Prestmit allows you to generate a dedicated Naira virtual bank account and send money to it from any Nigerian bank. Funds are credited to your Naira wallet automatically once received.

Direct wallet funding is currently only available for the Naira wallet. Cedis and USD wallet funding is not supported at this time. Your Cedis and USD balances are credited automatically when you complete a gift card or crypto trade with those wallets set as your payout destination.

How do I set up my Virtual Top-up Account

You only need to do this once.

  1. Tap "Wallet" on the home screen.

  2. Select "Naira Wallet".

  3. Tap "Add Funds".

  4. Follow the prompt to enter your BVN. This is required to generate your account and cannot be skipped.

  5. Your Virtual Top-up Account number is generated immediately and displayed on screen.

Please Note: Your BVN is required even if you already completed KYC using a different method (driver's licence, voter's ID, etc.). It is used only to verify your identity and does not give Prestmit or anyone else access to your bank account.

How do I top up my Naira wallet

  1. Go to "Naira Wallet" and tap "Add Funds" to view your account details.

  2. Open your bank app and transfer the amount you want to add.

  3. Use your Virtual Top-up Account number as the recipient account.

  4. Once your bank confirms the transfer, your Naira wallet is credited automatically.

Please Note: Only transfer from a bank account linked to your BVN. Transfers from a different account may be flagged for additional review and could delay your top-up. A fee of 2% applies to every top-up.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a top-up take to reflect?
Most top-ups reflect within a few minutes. Timing depends on your bank's transfer speed. If your wallet has not been credited after 30 minutes, contact support via in-app live chat with your transfer receipt and session ID or transfer reference.

What is the minimum and maximum amount I can top up? There is no minimum. Top-ups above ₦300,000 may be flagged for an additional compliance review before being credited. This is to protect your account.

What is the fee for topping up?

A fee of 2% is charged on every top-up.

Can I top up from someone else's bank account?
It is strongly advised to only top up from a bank account linked to your BVN. Transfers from a different account may be flagged and held for review. Your top-up account could be deactivated if this happens repeatedly.

Can I generate more than one Virtual Top-up Account?
No. Each Prestmit account has one Virtual Top-up Account. You cannot generate a second one.

Can I change my Virtual Top-up Account number?
No. Once generated, your account number is fixed and cannot be changed.

Can I use my Virtual Top-up Account to receive money from other people?
No. The account is for funding your Prestmit wallet only. If you top up without making a purchase, the system will flag your account. Top-ups must be used for transactions on Prestmit, not just to hold or withdraw funds.

Why can't I generate a Virtual Top-up Account?
You need to complete KYC and provide your BVN before a Virtual Top-up Account can be created. If you have already completed KYC using another method, you will be prompted to add your BVN separately. If the issue persists, contact support via in-app live chat.

Is my BVN safe with Prestmit?

Yes. Your BVN is protected under the Prestmit Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. It is used only to verify your identity, it does not give Prestmit or anyone else access to your bank account.

I haven't received my top-up — what do I do?

Check that you transferred to the correct account number. If the account number was correct and the funds still haven't arrived after 30 minutes, reach out to support via in-app live chat or email help@prestmit.com with your transfer receipt and session ID or transfer reference.
